Why 5 Ply for Kinnow

Kinnow is a heavy fruit for its size, and export cartons are stacked high in trucks, containers and cold storage. A 3 ply box can be enough for light local movement, but stacked export loads punish weak board. 5 ply corrugated board has two fluted layers instead of one, which gives the box better stacking strength, better resistance to corner damage and better performance when the air is damp, as it often is around washed and waxed fruit. In simple words: the box holds its shape, the stack stays standing, and the fruit inside reaches the buyer in saleable condition. For export orders and long routes, 5 ply is the sensible standard, and it is what we produce for kinnow.
